Teej

The Haritalika Teej is the significant festival celebrated by Hindu woman all across the country. It is mostly celebrated in Nepal and some parts of India. It is also known as monsoon festival and is dedicated to goddess Parvati. It is believed that fasting in teej will unite you with a good husband(like Lord Shiva) or in some cases a good wife:if you are unmarried.Whereas for married couples, fasting will elongate your husband or wife's lifespan and build a firm relation with them. With this belief woman all across the country fast for their husband's sake and go to nearby Shiva temple for worshiping. They gather together and enjoy this day by dancing and singing although they don't eat. Some of the woman fast by drinking water and fruits while some of them fast without drinking a single drop of water. It shows how much they love and care their husband. We can see most of the people wearing red on this day with different ornaments and makeup. Pashupatinath temple is very crowded on this day. Since this temple carries a great importance and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Woman from all ages celebrate this festival happily.
